ANGLIAN LEAGUE - 19th July, 2009

On Sunday the Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club played host to the 3rd fixture in the Anglian league against Waveney, West Suffolk, Breckland, Braintree and Ryston. Yarmouth were hoping for good results in this fixture and were not disappointed. The under 13 girls although missing some key athletes still produced there best result of the season with 3rd place. Laura Halliday showed some excellent sprinting in dominating the 100 & 200m winning both A races in 14.6 & 30.6 seconds. Rhiannon Clark running the hurdles for the first time took 3rd place in 16.6s and won the B long jump with 3.33m. Emily Anderson ran a very good 800m to win in 2m50.1s.

In the under 15 girls section Amber Burton again showed top form in taking both the 100m & 200m titles in 13.4s & 27.8s. Frankie Turner  in the 75m hurdles had her best run ever just finishing 2nd in 12.4s Catherine Lee ran away from the field in the 1500m to win in 5m 14.7s. Louisa Marshall ran 30.9 for 2nd place in the 200m B race and was 2nd in the discus throwing 17.04m. In the 800m Kelly Pywell ran 2m 49.3s to win the 800m B race. This was the teams best performance so far taking 2nd place.
Our Junior/Senior ladies finished in 4th place Katy Barber again produced the 100m/200m double as our girls completely dominated the sprint events with times of 13.0s & 26.5s. Molly Baldwin ran 13.7s to finish 3rd in the 100m B race and Sophie McKinna just arrived in time from her international duty to do the discus where she finished 3rd throwing 22.44m.
In the under 13 boys section Jay Turner had a throw of 27 .78m to win the javelin and a first in the 1500m in 5m 29.5s. Chris Spinks competing for the first time won the B long jump jumping 3.19m and was 4th in both the 100 & 200m in 15.7 & 31.3s. The team finished 3rd.
The under 15 boys Jordan Godfrey ran 13.2s to finish 3rd in the 100m A race with Mark Phillipson finishing 2nd in 13.0s in the B race. Reversed in the 200m Mark Phillipson was 2nd in the A race 27.0s and Jordan was 1st in the B race in 26.8s. Kyle Ella running a fast 800m in 2m 32.1s was 4th and Keelan Pywell despite finishing 4th in the 1500m was delighted in breaking the 5m barrier at last clocking a time of 4m 58.6s. The team finished 3rd.
In the under 17 boys section Richard Taylor won both the 100/200m A races in 12.0s & 23.4s whilst Shane Atherton won both B races in 12.6s & 25.2s. James House could not quite hit his best form in the high jump and his 1.60m gave him 2nd place, his long jump of 5.21m also gave him 2nd place. The team finished a very good joint 1st with West Suffolk
The junior /senior men section saw some excellent sprinting Josh Aldred in the 100m ran 11.6s to finish 2nd and Matt Millman won the B race in 12.0s. Kyle Burton dominated the 400m winning in 56.3s and Kevin Pywell running in the 3000m was 3rd in 12m 20.2s. Matthew Bloomfield making a welcome return to the team was very busy in the throws winning all four throws but his best performance was his 32.74m in the discus. Jahmal Mills jumped 6.28m in the long jump for 2nd place. The team finished 2nd.
Under 11 Matthew Knights had two wins winning the 80m (12.3s), and the 600m (2m 07.3s). Amy Dowsett had a two 2nd places in the 80m(12.9s) and the 600m(2m 01.8s).
 
 
The overall result  1st   West Suffolk 563, 2nd Great Yarmouth 412, 3rd Braintree 408, 4th Breckland  217, 5th Waveney 206,  Ryston never turned up
