On a beautiful summers evening, the village of Coltishall was filled with runners for the 10th anniversary of the MIKE GROVES RUN. A multi-terrain, undulating course of 5.89k a team of 10 runners from GYDAC took part in this popular race. The first member home was young Catherine Lee, only 13yrs, entering her first road race and put in an exceptional performance to finish 12th overall and 1st Lady in a time of 24:30 over a minute ahead of the next female competitor. Andrew McNamara, has now found his road legs and was pleased with his time of 26:58. Next to finish and now injury free John England in 28:44. The in-house competition amongst the other ladies was won by Diane Clark in 36:02, only 2 strides ahead of Sue Ryles in 36:04 and 3 paces behind was Dawn Clegg in 36:07. Maureen England finished in 36:40, having been chased by another younger novice Karen Goodwin who recorded a time of 37:03. Not far behind this group was Denise Goodwin in 39:32 and finally Pat Brightman struggled over the line in 45:24.
