On Sunday athletes from the Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club competed in the the annual under11/13 challenge match at the Wellesley against Waveney Valley, City of Norwich, Thetford & Diss. With some extra events put on for under 15,s the event was very well supported bringing together lots of the best athletes from those clubs. In the under 11 girls section Amy Dowsett produced an outstanding run in the 600m to win in 2m 3.7s with a 7s lead over 2^nd place. This to add to her bronze medal won earlier in the 80m (13.1s). Ellen Brown having just missed out on a medal in the long jump threw 17.09m to win the ball throw. In the under 11 boys section Matthew Night having won his heat in the 80m (12.9s) finished 3^rd in a close run final in (13.1s). Patrick Manning  running in the 600m found himself battling for 2^nd place in the home straight but had to settle for 3^rd place in 2m 6.7s. Matthew Knight threw 26.15m for the silver medal and Domonic Beard 24.96 for the bronze medal in the ball throw.

In the under 13 girls group Lauren Peach really ran superb taking both the 100 & 200m golds with times of 13.8 & 31.0s. Lucy Brice in the javelin produced a throw of 16.20 m to take the silver medal and another silver medal was won by Lucy Erin in the long jump with 3.83m.  Under 13 boy Josh Clark running the 800m ran a fast time of 2m 34.8s to finish 3^rd . In the under 15,s boys 100m Oliver Brice had the better finish to win in 12.3s. Keelan Pywell found himself in an exceptionally fast race in the 800m which helped him to a new best time of 2m 33.1s for his bronze medal. In the under 15 girls section Frankie Turner and Louisa Marshall both won bronze in the 200m with a time of 30.7s. In the 800m Catherine Lee and Frankie Turner had a last lap battle for the silver which went to Catherine with Frankie taking the bronze in times of  2m 41.5 & 2m 45.9s.
